Welcome from the Headteacher

I am proud to welcome you to Ysgol Rhys Prichard. I have been the Headteacher here since 2018, and before that I served as a primary school teacher for 20 years. Born in Lampeter from a farming background, I fully understand the needs and issues facing children growing up in our community.

To ensure the children become happy, confident and successful individuals, they are at the heart of every decision we make in the school. Happiness and the wellbeing of our young people is our highest priority. Our aim is to deliver an engaging curriculum where pupils foster a passion for learning and high aspirations for their future in a warm and supportive environment.

I consider myself exceptionally fortunate to lead a dedicated team of staff who work to the highest of standards. To guarantee your child’s success, we work closely with yourselves as parents and guardians, the local community and other schools in the area. We firmly believe that your child’s education is a partnership between home and school, and value your support at all times.

In February 2021 we moved to a new location in Llandovery. As well as providing fantastic outdoor space, the modern buildings have a range of facilities, including a dedicated science and technology room and performance area, all of which will help meet the learning needs of the new Wales Curriculum.
