Memories by Miriam Evans

As part of the Schools centenary celebrations in 2010 a book was published, this included the memories written by many of the schools teachers.  Over the following weeks we will be adding excerpts from these to the website.

Sitting down to write this I suddenly realise how much of my working life I have spent at Ysgol Rhys Prichard, over twenty years in fact, starting off as a student then returning to work at the school a few years later, appointed as one of the first NNEB’s.

I consider my work colleagues as friends, spending so much of my time with them, I can honestly say that I enjoy working at the school and as the old saying goes ‘time flies when you’re having fun’.

Like any profession there are ups and downs, laughter and tears. But pupils and staff coming out with entertaining remarks make me giggle and smile daily.

My position as a floating teaching assistant has enabled me to work with most members of staff. I have had the privilege of supporting pupils with difficulties to achieve their potential which gives me great satisfaction, having young adults now coming up to me on the street and reminiscing makes me feel quite proud.

During my time at the school there have been numerous changes and I am sure there will be many more, although I hope to keep contributing to the team effort in the future.
